Since 1997 I've been a member of the Vilnius Hitch-hiking Club (VHHC). In the period of 1997-1999, I was one of the most active members of VHHC, during which I covered more than 90,000 km. From November 1998 till June 2000 I was the Vice-President of the club. Together with other activists of VHHC we organized travels to other countries and international events. In 1997 and 1998 I was given the best traveller of the year award in the club. My story about travelling in Slovenia in 1998 got a prize as the club's best story of the year.

After intensive travels around Europe, I decided to explore the "Far-East" countries. So, in the summer of 2002, I went to China where I toured for almost 4 weeks.

After two more years I got opportunity to visit Africa. In June-July 2004 I have travelled from Ethiopia to South Africa, covering 6'000 km by hitch-hiking and 4'000 km by buses. You are welcome to visit the webpage about mine and Katja's expedition in Africa: africa.kligys.com

The BEST COUNTRY IN EUROPE is Slovenia. Sometime ago I created a website dedicated to this magical country: slo.kligys.com.

The most serious hitch-hiking competitions I have participated in were - the second selection stage for the world hitch-hikers trophy. There were 6 Russian and 2 Lithuanian pairs competing with each other, 18 days travelling through 14 European countries (LT, PL, SK, H, A, I, F, B, NL, D, DK, S, N, RUS). Me and my partner Audrone won second place. Pictures.
LIVING ABROAD

--> Ecuador (2007.08-12)

--> Belize (2006.03-08)

--> Denmark (1999.01-06, 2000.09-2003.04, 2004.03-05, 2005.01-09, 2009.01-05)
My first great experience of living abroad, I received during my 5 months stay in Roskilde (Denmark). There I studied as an exchange student in Roskilde College. Afterwards I lived for more than 2.5 years in Aalborg (Denmark). Pictures of "life in Denmark" you can easily find in the pictures section. Before coming to Aalborg I had many questions concerning living in this area. As a result I created a Lithuanian and English version of the list of answers to frequently asked questions about studying in Aalborg. The English version also contains message boards for the international students at Aalborg University.

--> South Africa (2004.08-11)
In August - November 2004 I was doing a voluntary job in Cape Town. Three months I worked at the Environmental Management Department in the Municipality of Cape Town. The 4th month I worked in Esangweni Secondary school in the black people's township, called Khayelitsha (30 km East from Cape Town). The voluntary service was partly financed by German organization - ASA Programm.
